Flagship Bupa Wellness Centre in Cheshire
TRANSFORMING a BLANK CANVAS OFFICE SPACE INTO a WELLNESS CENTRE
Based in Tarporley, Cheshire, Enigma Wellness supports individuals in their positive mental health and wellbeing journey by providing connections to best-in-class resources.
In 2022, Enigma Wellness was granted the franchise to create a new Bupa assessment centre in Cheshire to deliver treatment and diagnosis.
Located at Portal Business Park on the outskirts of Tarporley, the business started out as 3,230 sq. ft of commercial office space which we transformed into a flagship health assessment centre. This was the first joint centre between Bupa and Enigma Wellness and has helped Enigma Wellness to provide a number of enhanced health and wellbeing services, including health assessments, private GP appointments, physiotherapy, muscle, bone and joint services and menopause support to people within this catchment area.
Design consultancy is key to successful outcomes
As with most interior fit-out projects the real hard work is done during the discovery phase to fully understand the vision and with ongoing discussions to ensure it is accurately represented in 3D. This ensures there is total clarity and the finished outcome meets all expectations. Spacious, hygienic, private, calming and high-end were adjectives often used to describe the desired feel for the space.
It was also important to consider the confidentiality of each consultation room, as sometimes the news patients receive requires a great deal of sensitivity.
Mental health and wellbeing are central to the design
The fit-out includes a welcoming reception centre in light wood with soft colour pallets to ensure visitors always feel they are in a calming environment rather than a clinic. Particular attention was given to ensuring the space places people first, with mental health and well-being central to the design.
We designed and fitted out four treatment rooms and a pathology lab downstairs. A further five rooms upstairs for private consultations and assessments, with additional staff dining and training facilities.
The private practice required a calming and inviting patient experience, reflecting Enigma Wellness values. Using soft furnishings and introducing biophilia, feature lighting, and acoustics, a holistic design approach was developed to ensure an air of calmness, confidentiality and privacy. Avoiding noise transference into public and staff areas was essential to patients and employees while enabling staff to enjoy break time away.
