Where we started

Ibstock Brick is one of the UK’s leading brick manufacturers, with its headquarters, manufacturing and distribution facility based in Ibstock, Leicestershire.

The goal was simple: create a space people would actually want to use. Somewhere, the whole workforce could eat well, meet properly and feel part of the same business.

Where we focused

This wasn’t about making the café look nicer. It was about shaping a space that could bring people together across the business. Factory teams, office staff, visitors, suppliers, different shift patterns, different needs. The new café had to feel welcoming to everyone, work hard all day, and stand up to life on a busy manufacturing site.

What changed

The new Food Factory gives Ibstock Brick a bright, durable and genuinely social space at the heart of the site.

Light, airy finishes, booth seating, bespoke wall art and hardwearing furniture gave the café a fresh identity without losing sight of practical day-to-day use.

A Costa Coffee franchise added a new reason to use the space outside peak food service. Charging points and wall-mounted TVs made it easier for people to pause, recharge and keep up with the day.

The space was also redesigned to improve flow and reduce queues, supported by self-service drinks, a salad bar, toast station and recycling points.

Outside, new block paving and sheltered seating created another place for staff to enjoy their break when the weather behaves.

The Impact

Food Factory now serves over 150 covers a day, a major shift from the previous average of 40.

More importantly, it has become a shared space for the whole business.

This is now a place where factory workers in overalls and office teams in businesswear feel equally welcome.

Somewhere people choose to step away from desks and production lines, enjoy a proper meal, and connect with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
