With Specsavers the opportunity was clear: connect two neighbouring buildings and create one workplace with a stronger sense of culture, wellbeing and purpose.
Where we started
Specsavers needed a clear vision for how one expanded workplace could feel, flow and function. Both buildings needed upgrades, with core systems nearing end of life and key areas ready for refurbishment. But the bigger question was about people: how could the site support growth while keeping teams connected, comfortable and proud of where they work?
Where we focused
Through leadership workshops and colleague sessions, we got to the heart of what people needed from the space. The priorities were clear: make connection easier, make wellbeing visible and give teams the right settings to focus, collaborate and come together. Those priorities shaped the strategy, layout and design decisions from the start.
What changed
A new ground-floor link connects East and West, turning the site into one campus with smoother movement and a clearer sense of one workplace. The main hub is now a real destination, bringing together Contacts, the new restaurant, and Xchange, a flexible work lounge for focused tasks, informal catch-ups and hybrid meetings. Wellbeing has been embedded through a dedicated suite, including Nova, the gym and table tennis space, The Nest for group training, a wellness room for first aid and personal health needs, and The Nook for mindfulness, prayer and reflection. On the first floor, a high-spec conference hub supports large events with modular furniture, acoustic division and integrated technology for in-person and hybrid use. Newmedica also has a dedicated home, giving the team a clear base and identity within the wider workplace.
