Futures Housing Group was growing fast, with teams spread across field hubs and a traditional office that no longer matched how people needed to work.

Where we started

The team wanted more than a better layout. They needed a space that would help shift mindsets, from fixed desks to genuine choice, flexibility and collaboration.

So we created a prototype agile workspace that gave their people room to focus, meet, share ideas and connect with colleagues wherever they were working.

Where we focused

Futures needed their people to feel confident working in a more agile way, with less reliance on fixed desks and more freedom to choose the right setting for the task. Our focus was on making that change feel practical, positive and easy to adopt. The space had to support new habits, not force them.

What changed

The new workspace supported different modes of work, from collaborative sessions and visitor meetings to focused tasks and confidential conversations.

Technology played a big part too. Interactive screens, video conferencing and improved audio helped teams share ideas, map processes and stay connected with colleagues working elsewhere.

More than anything, the space made change feel real. It gave Futures’ people a practical taste of agile working before the wider office move, helping them see the benefits for themselves.

The impact

The test space helped Futures turn a big cultural shift into something people could actually see, use and understand.

Instead of asking teams to imagine a more agile way of working, they could try it for themselves. Staff had more choice in how they worked, better spaces to collaborate, and the right technology to stay connected with colleagues beyond the office.

That made the change feel less like a policy and more like progress. The space built confidence, encouraged new habits and gave Futures a clearer blueprint for their future workplace.
